Introducing Investigators of Infernal Incidents

Today, I would like to briefly talk about one of my favourite pieces of media, the criminally underrated adventures of Jago & Litefoot. Some backstory may be required..

Firstly, let's discuss two of my more common interests. I am a major fan of Doctor Who, a science fiction show with a near infinite scope. Thanks to the rotating nature of the cast, and the core plot device of travelling to anywhere anywhen, Doctor Who can be a different show every week. Any given series can jump from gothic horror, to comedy, to cautionary tales of near future science fiction, to historical drama, by way of a murder mystery or detective show. The other interest I wish to mention is my love of audio dramas, such as the amazing "Welcome to Night Vale". If you're unfamiliar, leave now and listen to it. I'll still be here when you've finished.

So, given these two disparate interests, imagine my joy at discovering the work of Big Finish Productions, who create audio dramatisations of the continued adventures of the older Doctor Who cast. Perhaps the most obscure of their output must be "Jago & Litefoot". These two characters appeared in a single story with the 4th Doctor back in the 70's. This might seem like a strange choice for a spin-off, I certainly thought so.

Messers Jago & Litefoot are a pair of Victorian Gentlemen, who investigate supernatural shenanigans and infernal incidents in the gothic atmosphere of a foggy London, at the tail end of the 19th century. Professor George Litefoot is a police pathologist and upstanding well-to-do gentleman with extensive experience in the macabre. Henry Gordon Jago on the other hand, is a theatrical impresario with a fantastic flair for eloquent etymology and a particular penchant for apposite alliteration. Together, they form quite possibly the most entertaining duo I have ever heard!

They have faced countless foes, always by each others side. Friends to the last. The villainous coves they have bravely battled include: werewolves, vampires, mechanical mahogany men, perilous puppets, sadistic spectres, time travelling terrors and Eldritch evils! And, as perhaps their most glorious achievement, a musical masterpiece!

In conclusion, I can't recommend them enough. That is all. Let this stand as an explanation for those time when I contrive to concoct a communique consisting of a dexterous display of duplicated dialogue!
